Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) left shoulder with contrast uses gadolinium which is very safe and has rare side effects. It is used to capture detailed images of the shoulder joint, bones, tendons etc. These detailed images allow doctors to identify defects and diseases. Done using a large machine that uses magnetic fields and radio waves is typically done to identify arthritis, fractures, infections, pains, tumours, swellings, etc.

 

It has proven very beneficial in diagnosing a broad range of conditions. The MRI testing poses almost no risk on an average person when safety guidelines are followed. Even the strong magnetic fields are not harmful. If you are breastfeeding, consult a doctor before the contrast medium is used since it can spread to the breast milk and be passed onto the baby.
