IGF-BP3

The IGF-BP3 (Insulin-Like Growth Factor Binding Protein-3) test is a blood test used to measure the level of IGF-BP3, the main binding protein that carries insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in the bloodstream. IGF-BP3 reflects growth hormone (GH) activity and is helpful in evaluating growth disorders. This test is commonly used in the assessment of short stature, delayed growth in children, and suspected growth hormone deficiency or excess. Unlike growth hormone, IGF-BP3 levels remain relatively stable throughout the day, making the test a reliable indicator of GH status. Results are interpreted along with IGF-1 levels, clinical findings, and other hormonal investigations for accurate diagnosis and management.
