Your child’s medicine at a glance

Xime 100mg Tablet can be given either before or after meals but giving it with food improves absorption and reduces the chances of stomach upset in your child. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of the intake, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it is already time for the next dose.

This medicine may have some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergy. These episodes should start receding after a few doses. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without any delay.

Narrate your child’s complete medical history to your child’s doctor, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, a blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Xime 100mg Tablet should be taken with or after food.

How Xime Tablet works

Xime 100mg Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.

Quick tips

  • Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
  • Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
  • Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. This medicine is not to be taken in such cases.
  • Only give Xime 100mg Tablet to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
  • Discontinue giving Xime 100mg Tablet and consult the doctor immediately in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
  • Your doctor has prescribed Xime 100mg Tablet to cure your infection and improve your symptoms.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
  • Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach.
  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it does not  stop or if you find blood in your stools.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Xime 100mg Tablet as it may cause increased side effects.
  • Discontinue Xime 100mg Tablet and inform your doctor immediately if you get a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or have difficulty in breathing.

Antibiotics kill the infection-causing bacteria, but while doing this they may affect the good bacteria present in the gastrointestinal tract.
