Product introduction

Vitree 5mg Tablet is best taken after meals. Taking with food helps increase the medication's absorption and decrease nausea. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Keep taking it for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early, your symptoms may come back, and your condition may worsen.

The most common side effects of Vitree 5mg Tablet are nausea, itching, and redness of the skin. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects.

Taking Vitree 5mg Tablet makes the skin more sensitive to the sun. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Try to avoid exposure of your skin and lips to sunlight for eight hours after treatment. It is not recommended for children under the age of 14 years. Avoid eating certain foods like limes, figs, parsley, parsnips, mustard, carrots, and celery, as they may increase the skin's sensitivity to light.

Benefits of Vitree Tablet

Treatment of Psoriasis
Vitree 5mg Tablet helps manage psoriasis by making the skin more sensitive to ultraviolet A (UVA) light during phototherapy. When used as part of PUVA therapy, it slows down the excessive growth of skin cells that leads to thick, scaly patches. This helps reduce scaling, redness, and itching, leading to clearer skin and relief from symptoms when treatment is continued as advised.
Treatment of Vitiligo
In vitiligo, Vitree 5mg Tablet is used with UVA light to stimulate repigmentation of affected skin areas. It works by activating the cells responsible for skin color, helping them produce melanin again. Over time, this can lead to gradual restoration of skin pigmentation and improved appearance of vitiligo patches, especially when used regularly under medical supervision.

Frequently asked questions

Vitree 5mg Tablet is used with ultraviolet A (UVA) light therapy to treat skin conditions like vitiligo (to increase skin pigmentation) and sometimes psoriasis. It works as a photosensitizer, making your skin more sensitive to UVA, and promoting repigmentation.
Before starting Vitree 5mg Tablet, tell your doctor if you have allergies to sunlight, eye conditions (such as cataracts), heart, liver, or kidney problems, autoimmune disorders, or a history of skin cancer. The elderly and people with stomach problems or infections should also use it with caution. Avoid foods like limes, figs, celery, parsnips, carrots, parsley, or mustard while on this medication, as they can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight.
Individuals should not use Vitree 5mg Tablet if they are allergic to it, have porphyria, active autoimmune disease, recent or planned X-ray treatment, or are under 12 years old. It is also contraindicated in patients with a family history of allergy to sunlight or those with melanoma or other skin cancers.
Although they are rare, serious side effects of Vitree 5mg Tablet include blistering and peeling of the skin, red or sore skin, swelling of feet or lower legs, severe sunburn, and signs of skin cancer (sores that do not heal, new or changing moles). There is a risk of premature skin aging and cataracts after prolonged use of this medicine.
Yes, Vitree 5mg Tablet makes your skin extremely sensitive to sunlight and UVA. Avoid sun exposure during and for at least forty-eight hours after each dose. Wear protective clothing, use sunblock (SPF 30 or higher) on exposed skin, and protect your eyes with wraparound sunglasses that block all UVA/UVB rays.
Vitree 5mg Tablet treatment may take several weeks to months to show benefits. Do not increase your dose or number of UVA sessions trying to speed results, as this increases the risk of burns and skin cancer. Your doctor will regularly check your progress and adjust therapy as needed.
