Overview

Introduction

Trixide 12.5 mg/5 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines. It is used in the treatment of depression associated with anxiety. It helps in regulating mood and to reduce anxiety.

Trixide 12.5 mg/5 mg Tablet is taken with or without food. However, it is advisable to take it at a fixed time each day to maintain consistent level of medicine in the blood. In case you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. Never skip any dose and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor as it may worsen your symptoms. Taking this medicine for long time may require regular monitoring of blood and liver functions.

Some common side effects of this medicine include insomnia, agitation, anxiety and a feeling of worthlessness. This medicine may cause weight loss. So, in case you lose weight, consult a dietitian for dietary supplement or try to increase your food portion. Remember to inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood as it may lead to suicidal thoughts.

How Trixide Tablet works

Trixide 12.5 mg/5 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Amitriptyline and Chlordiazepoxide, which treats depression. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant which increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression. Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine (BZD) which works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.
