Uses of Tenark Tablet

Tenark 20 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is used in addition to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

  • Headache
  • Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar level) in combination with insulin or sulphonylurea
  • Upper respiratory tract infection
  • Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages)

How to use Tenark Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tenark 20 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Tenark Tablet works

Tenark 20 mg Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It works by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas and decreasing the hormones that raise blood sugar levels. This reduces the fasting and postmeal sugar levels.

Alcohol

Pregnancy

Lactation

Driving
Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is low or high. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
SAFE
Tenark 20 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Tenark 20 mg Tablet is recommended.
Liver
Tenark 20 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Tenark 20 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Tenark Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Tenark 20 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Expert Advice

  • Tenark 20 mg Tablet is used alone or  together with other diabetes medicines to control blood sugar and avoids long-term complications.
  • You should continue to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines (if prescribed) along with Tenark 20 mg Tablet.
  • It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine. 
  • Chances of weight gain and low blood sugar are lesser as compared to other diabetes medicines.
  • Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxious feeling.
  • Inform your doctor if you notice joint pains or develop symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, and/or vomiting.
  • Take it at the same time every day to help you remember to take it.
  • Be careful while driving or operating machinery until you know how Tenark 20 mg Tablet affects you.

Per day calorie intake should be between 1,500-1,800 calories with a proportion of 60:20:20 between carbohydrates, fats and proteins, respectively, take Healthy fats from raw nuts, olive oil, fish oils, flax seeds etc, fresh Fruits and vegetables,whole grains, legumes and other high-fibre diet, avoid refined carbohydrate diet,if u eat non veg u can take fish, poultry egg white, pulses whereas avoid red meat, avoid saturated fats like ghee, butter, avoid sweet foods, take small but frequent meals, supplements containing omega 3 fatty acids like Multivite fm omega capsule Quit smoking, avoid too much alcohol intake, find ways to reduce stress like meditation, yoga, etc. Moderate exercise daily like a brisk walk for 1 km. hope it helps

Q. Can I take Tenark with metformin?
Yes, Tenark can be taken with metformin. It is a good add-on treatment if the blood sugars are very high even after taking metformin. The risk of low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia) is also very low with both the medicines. However, consult your doctor before taking them together as a dose adjustment may be needed.
Q. Does Tenark have an expiry date?
Yes, Tenark does expire. Please check the expiry date written on the pack and it refers to the last day of that month. Do not use Tenark after the expiry date.
Q. How to take Tenark?
Tenark is usually to be taken once a day with or without food. Take it preferably at the same time every day. Read the product label carefully before use and follow your doctor's advice.
