Sorifix Solo Ointment

Sorifix Solo Ointment is a topical medication used in the treatment of mild to moderately severe psoriasis. It works by lowering the rate at which skin cells grow. This reduces the red, scaly patches on the skin.

Sorifix Solo Ointment is for external use only. You should always use it exactly as your doctor has told you. The affected area should be clean and dry before application. You must wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying this medicine. This medicine should be used regularly to get the most benefit from it. Do not use more than you need as it will not clear your condition faster and some side effects may be increased. If your condition goes on for longer than four weeks or gets worse at any time, let your doctor know. You can help this medicine work better by keeping the affected areas clean.

Common side effects include dry skin, skin irritation, itching, burning sensation, stinging sensation, redness of skin, and rash at the site of application. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Please consult your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration. Avoid direct contact of the cream or ointment with your eyes. In case of direct contact, wash your eyes with water and seek immediate medical attention.

Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. You should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. Sorifix Solo Ointment should not be used on the face, as it may cause skin irritation. It is recommended to limit or avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or UV light while using this medication.

How to cope with side effects?

The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist.

  • Coping with Dry skin
Use mild cleansing creams or soaps rather than harsh or perfumed ones. Use warm water (not hot) and do not spend too long in the bath or shower. Long bathing hours or using harsh soaps can wash away natural oils. Dry your skin gently with a towel and apply moisturizer immediately after washing. Do not use alcohol-based products on your skin. Choose clothing fabrics that will not irritate your skin.
  • Coping with Skin irritation and Rash
There are many treatments for a wide range of skin problems. Avoid hot showers or baths because hot water can irritate the skin. Make sure to pat dry your skin after a bath or shower. Do not rub or scratch the affected area. Leave the skin exposed to the air as much as possible. Do not use perfumed soaps or deodorants. Water containing chlorine can make most skin problems worse, so avoid swimming. Avoid spicy foods, alcohol, tobacco smoke and caffeine as it may also make itching worse. Avoid excessive sun exposure. Always use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Moisturizers can be used regularly to soothe and hydrate the affected area. If it does not get better within a week, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.

User Feedback

Q. Is Sorifix Solo a steroid?

No, Sorifix Solo is not a steroid. It is a synthetic variant of vitamin D3. Vitamin D is responsible for the growth of skin cells. In psoriasis, there is excessive growth of skin cells which do not fall off and appear as scaly patches. Due to this your skin develops raised red and silver colored scaly patches. Sorifix Solo works by reducing the excess amount of cells your skin makes.

Q. How long does it take Sorifix Solo to work?

Sorifix Solo may start showing improvement after about 2 weeks of starting the treatment but this may vary from person to person. You may observe significant improvement in signs and symptoms after about 8 weeks of treatment but full clearing is achieved in very few patients. Discuss with your doctor if you are not sure.

Q. Can Sorifix Solo be used on the face?

No, Sorifix Solo should not be used on the face as it may cause skin irritation. Also, there are chances of it getting in the eyes. You should also be careful while using in skin folds such as the armpits or under the breasts. This is because you are more likely to get skin side effects in these areas.

Q. How to use Sorifix Solo?

Always use it exactly as advised by your doctor. Wash your hands before and after applying Sorifix Solo. It is meant only for application on skin. Apply it on the area of the skin which has psoriasis (red and white scaly patches). You can squeeze the medicine directly on the skin or if you want you can squeeze it on your finger first. Apply it in a good quantity (thickly) and then gently rub it in to cover the area of psoriasis, till it disappears. Always wash your hands after use.

Q. Who should not use Sorifix Solo?

Sorifix Solo should not be used by patients who are allergic to it, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have severe liver or severe kidney problems, or have high or low blood levels of calcium. Also, this medicine should not be given to children less than 6 years of age.
