Rositus M Tablet

Rositus M Tablet is a medicine used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is a combination of two medicines that effectively control blood sugar levels, when a single medication is not effective. How to use Rositus M Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Rositus M Tablet is to be taken with food.
Rositus M Tablet may cause stomach upset if taken on empty stomach.

How Rositus M Tablet works

Rositus M Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Rosiglitazone and Metformin. Rosiglitazone is a thiazolidinedione which works by increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. Metformin is a biguanide. It works by lowering sugar production in the liver, delaying sugar absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

Alcohol
UNSAFE
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Rositus M Tablet Taking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
Pregnancy
CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR
Rositus M Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR
Information regarding the use of Rositus M Tablet during lactation is not available. Please consult your doctor.
Driving
CAUTION
Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
CAUTION
Rositus M Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Rositus M Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Rositus M Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
Liver
CAUTION
Rositus M Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Rositus M Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Rositus M Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

Expert Advice

  • Take it as per the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.
  • Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine.
  • It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal.
  • Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemic symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxiety.
  • Your doctor may check your liver function regularly. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).
  • Inform your doctor if you notice weight gain, shortness of breath,  irregular heartbeat, or any abnormal swelling.
