How to use Rosicon MF Tablet

Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet may cause stomach upset if taken on empty stomach.

How Rosicon MF Tablet works

Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Rosiglitazone and Metformin. Rosiglitazone is a thiazolidinedione which works by increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. Metformin is a biguanide. It works by lowering sugar production in the liver, delaying sugar absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

Alcohol
CAUTION
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet. Taking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
No information is available on the use of Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Driving
Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is low or high. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
Liver
CAUTION
Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Rosicon MF 4mg/500mg Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

  • It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal.
  • Inform your doctor if you notice weight gain, shortness of breath,  irregular heartbeat, or any abnormal swelling. 
  • Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemic symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxiety.
  • Your doctor may check your liver function regularly. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).
  • It should be taken with food to avoid the side effects like nausea and upset stomach.
  • Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine.

Since 3 years I have Type 2 Diabetes and am presently on 1 tab. of glynase MF .My fasting is 130 and PP goes up to 170-180. I want to lower it further. I have been advised to take 1 tab. of voglibose 0.3 with lunch.Iam unable to walk more than 1 k.m. due to osteoarthritis but I am cycling daily for one hour to compensate. What do I do to control B-G level more effectively?
