Product introduction

Preultra Injection is given as an injection into a vein by a trained healthcare professional. It should be used regularly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of the treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.

The most common side effects of Preultra Injection include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, and infusion site phlebitis. These are usually mild, but let your doctor know if they bother you or last more than a few days. This medicine may also cause diarrhea as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with this medicine may provide help.

Before using it, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any antibiotics or have any kidney or liver problems. You should also let your doctor know about all the other medicines you are taking, as they may affect or be affected by this medicine. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before using it. Seizures and other neurological events may occur, particularly in patients with impaired kidney function. Consult your doctor if you have renal impairment.

Uses of Preultra Injection

Benefits of Preultra Injection

Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Urinary tract infections occur when harmful bacteria infect any part of the urinary system, leading to symptoms such as burning during urination, frequent urge to urinate, lower abdominal pain, and fever. Preultra Injection helps treat urinary tract infections caused by resistant bacteria when usual antibiotics may not be suitable. It helps clear the infection, relieves uncomfortable urinary symptoms, and reduces the risk of the infection spreading to the kidneys or bloodstream. Timely treatment supports faster recovery and helps prevent serious complications.
Pneumonia
Pneumonia is a lung infection that can make breathing difficult and cause fever, cough, and chest discomfort, especially when caused by resistant bacteria. Preultra Injection helps treat pneumonia by controlling the infection and supporting recovery in cases where common antibiotics may not work. It helps reduce the severity of symptoms, improves breathing comfort, and lowers the risk of infection-related complications.

How to use Preultra Injection

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.

How Preultra Injection works

Preultra Injection works by combining two actions to treat serious bacterial infections. Ceftazidime is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by interfering with the formation of their cell wall, which is essential for bacterial survival. Avibactam protects ceftazidime by blocking certain enzymes (beta-lactamases) produced by resistant bacteria that would otherwise break down the antibiotic. Together, this combination helps ceftazidime remain active and effectively kill bacteria that are difficult to treat due to resistance.

Quick tips

  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect of Preultra Injection but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.
  • Stick to simple meals, avoid rich or spicy food, and drink plenty of water while taking Preultra Injection.
  • Inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, or breathing difficulties while taking Preultra Injection.
  • Preultra Injection can cause confusion, hallucinations, seizures, and coma. Seek immediate medical attention for treatment, dosage adjustment, or discontinuation of the treatment.
