How Orofer FCM Injection works

Orofer FCM 1K Injection is an anti-anemic medication. It replenishes the iron stores in your body. Iron is vital for the formation of new red blood cells and hemoglobin, a substance that gives these cells the ability to transport oxygen.

Pregnancy

Orofer FCM 1K Injection may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation

Orofer FCM 1K Injection is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
Driving

Kidney
Orofer FCM 1K Injection is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Orofer FCM 1K Injection may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Expert Advice

  • Orofer FCM 1K Injection is used for the treatment of iron deficiency, when oral iron preparations are ineffective or cannot be used.
  • Your doctor or nurse will administer it by injection. You will be observed for at least 30 minutes after each injection as it may cause allergic reaction.
  • Your blood iron levels and blood pressure will be regularly monitored while taking this medication.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking any iron products by mouth.
  • Do not consume alcohol when on treatment with this medicine as it may worsen its side effects.
  • It may cause your stools to become black or dark in color. This is normal and harmless.

Dear PATIENT you for sharing your reports with me. Most of your reports are within normal limits. Your hemoglobin level along with iron, MCV, is low, this suggest you have iron deficiency anemia. For this, you should have a diet rich in iron containing foods like green leafy vegetables, spinach, jaggery etc. You can also take Orofer tablet, one tablet once a day for at least 2 months. Get a repeat hemoglobin test done after 2 months.

Dear Sir Thank you for sharing your reports with me. I have gone through them and it suggests the following things: 1. Your hemoglobin, MCV, MCH, IRON level s are low which suggests you might be suffering from iron deficiency anemia. For this, you should have a diet rich in iron containing ffods like spinach, green leafy vegetables, jaggery etc. You can also take orofer tablet once a day for at least 1 month. Your LDL and CRP are marginally high which means you can be at increased risk of heart disease. For this, you should make diet and lifestyle related changes like have a diet rich in vegetables, fruits. Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day for at least 5 days in a week. Your Vitamin D level is also marginally low. For thi, you can have calcirol sachet once a week in milk for 4 weeks.
