Sulfamethoxazole(800 mg)


Sulfamethoxazole is used to treat malaria, conjunctivitis (irritation and redness in the membrane covering the eye) due to chlamydia, toxoplasmosis, and urinary tract infections.

How it works

Sulphamethoxazole belongs to class of medications called sulfonamide antibiotic. Sulphamethoxazole inhibits bacterial utilization of para-amino benzoic acid for the synthesis of folic acid, an important metabolite in bacterial DNA synthesis, thereby stopping bacterial growth.

  • Do not take further dose of taking sulfamethoxazole and consult your doctor at the first appearance of a skin rash, sore throat, fever, muscle, joints, bone pain or stiffness (arthralgia), cough, shortness of breath or jaundice.
  • Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight and wear sunscreen when going out.
  • Drink adequate water during sulfonamide therapy.
