Frequently asked questions
Noscab Soap is used to treat scabies (a skin infestation caused by tiny mites) and head lice. It is used to kill the parasites and their eggs, while also preventing secondary infections.
While Noscab Soap starts to kill the mites immediately upon application, it is important to understand that the itching may continue for some time, even after all the mites are dead. This is because your body is having an allergic reaction to the dead mites and their waste. The itching should gradually decrease over the next few days to weeks.
Yes, it is very important that all members of your household, and any close contacts, are treated with Noscab Soap at the same time, even if they do not have any symptoms. Scabies is highly contagious and can spread easily through close physical contact, so treating everyone simultaneously is crucial to prevent re-infestation.
For both scabies and head lice, a second application is often recommended about 7 to 10 days after the first treatment. This is to kill any lice or mites that may have hatched from eggs that survived the initial application, ensuring the infestation is completely eradicated.
In addition to treating your body with Noscab Soap, you should wash all bedding, towels, and clothing that you have used in the last few days in hot water, and dry them on a high heat setting. For items that cannot be washed, you can seal them in a plastic bag for at least 72 hours, as the mites cannot survive for more than a few days away from the human body.
The cetrimide in Noscab Soap has antiseptic properties that can help to prevent secondary infections in areas where you have been scratching. However, you should avoid applying it to raw or weeping skin. If you have severe skin irritation, consult your doctor before using the lotion.
A mild and temporary sensation of stinging, burning, or itching is a common side effect when you first apply Noscab Soap. This usually subsides quickly. However, if the irritation is severe or does not go away, you should wash the lotion off and contact your doctor.
