Treatment of Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a common condition that causes bones to become fragile and brittle so that they break (fracture) more easily. It also helps in the growth and development of bones as well as maintaining strong bones. Along with medicines, eat a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, like dairy products, green leafy vegetables, etc.

How Nidcal CL Tablet works

Nidcal CL Tablet is a combination of four medicines: calcitriol, calcium carbonate, zinc, and risedronate, which treat osteoporosis. Calcitriol is a form of vitamin D that helps your body effectively absorb calcium carbonate and supports the muscles needed to avoid falls. Calcium carbonate and zinc are minerals that help build and maintain bones. Risedronate is a bisphosphonate that works by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that destroy bone. This strengthens the bone and minimizes the risk of fractures.

Frequently asked questions

You should take Nidcal CL Tablet first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with a full glass of water (not juice/coffee).
Individuals should avoid using Nidcal CL Tablet if they are allergic to any of its ingredients. It should also be avoided in cases of high blood calcium levels (hypercalcemia), severely reduced kidney function, or bone softening not caused by vitamin D deficiency. Additionally, people with esophageal problems (such as difficulty swallowing or a very narrow food pipe) or those unable to stand or sit upright for at least 30 minutes should not use Nidcal CL Tablet.
While taking Nidcal CL Tablet, avoid lying down for at least 30 minutes afterward, as it may irritate your food pipe. Do not take calcium, antacids, or iron supplements within 2 hours of this medicine, as they can reduce its absorption. During Nidcal CL Tablet treatment, contact your doctor immediately if you experience chest pain or difficulty swallowing, as these may be signs of esophageal damage. Seek help if you notice severe bone, joint, or muscle pain, jaw pain or swelling (which could indicate a rare condition called osteonecrosis of the jaw, where the jawbone doesn’t heal properly), eye pain or vision changes, or worsening of asthma (if you have or had asthma).
The exact time Nidcal CL Tablet takes to show its benefits is not known. However, you may expect improvement in bone density in a few months of regular use. Your doctor may do scans to observe how you are doing on the Nidcal CL Tablet treatment.
Avoid self-administering Nidcal CL Tablet if you have a kidney or any other disease. Nidcal CL Tablet requires dosage adjustment in kidney issues. Your doctor may closely monitor serum calcium/creatinine levels.
