How to use Mycurit Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.
Avoid Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

How Mycurit Tablet works

Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet is a combination of two antibiotics: Rifampicin and Isoniazid, which treats tuberculosis (TB). Rifampicin works by inactivating a bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase) which is required by TB bacteria to make essential proteins and to reproduce. Isoniazid prevents these bacteria from forming their own protective covering. Together, they kill the bacteria and eradicate the infection.

CAUTION
Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heartbeat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure with alcohol (Disulfiram reactions).
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
SAFE
Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet can cause fits, mental health problems and optic neuritis (inflammation of the optic nerve that may cause loss of vision.) This may affect your driving ability.
Kidney
CAUTION
Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

  • You have been prescribed Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet for the treatment of tuberculosis.
  • Finish the full course of the medication, even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back.
  • Take it on an empty stomach, preferably at the same time everyday.
  • It may discolour your urine, sweat, saliva and tears a reddish-orange colour. This is normal and not harmful.
  • Your doctor may check your liver function before starting treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you notice yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, or stomach pain.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet as this may increase the risk of side effects on the liver.
  • Use an alternative or additional contraceptive method (such as condoms or a diaphragm) to prevent pregnancy while you are taking Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet as it may make hormonal contraceptives such as the pill less effective.
  • Do not take indigestion remedies (antacids)  within at least two hours of taking Mycurit 150 mg/75 mg Tablet.

I have cough problem from 25 days. I used penther syrup, tuspel cough syrup and tuff DMR , DMR 20 tablet, Roxud 150 mg but no much recovery so prescribe me for that.

Q. Does Mycurit cause change in urine color/turn urine orange?

Yes, Mycurit can change the color of your urine (skin, sweat, saliva, tears and feces) to brownish-red or orange. This effect is not harmful.

Q. Does the use of Mycurit make birth control pills ineffective?

Yes, Mycurit can make birth control pills less effective. So, ask the doctor about using a birth control method which does not affect your hormone levels (such as a condom, diaphragm and spermicide).
