Frequently asked questions

Moxilone 0.5% Eye/Ear Drops is an antibiotic medicine used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes and ears. It may be prescribed for conditions such as bacterial conjunctivitis, eye infections, and certain ear infections. By controlling the growth of bacteria, it helps reduce symptoms such as redness, irritation, discharge, discomfort, and swelling associated with infection.
Moxilone 0.5% Eye/Ear Drops contains Moxifloxacin, an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth and multiplication of bacteria responsible for the infection. As the number of bacteria decreases, symptoms such as redness, irritation, discharge, and discomfort gradually improve, allowing the affected area to heal.
No. Moxilone 0.5% Eye/Ear Drops is effective against bacterial infections and is not intended to treat infections caused by viruses or fungi. Using an antibiotic when it is not needed may reduce its effectiveness, so it should only be used for the condition for which it has been prescribed.
Wash your hands before use. Tilt your head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid, and place the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye. Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye, fingers, or any surface, as this may contaminate the bottle.
For ear infections, tilt your head or lie down with the affected ear facing upward. Instill the prescribed number of drops and remain in the same position for a few minutes to allow the medicine to reach the infected area. Follow your doctor's instructions regarding the duration of treatment.
Yes, if prescribed by your doctor. Since Moxilone 0.5% Eye/Ear Drops is formulated for use in both the eyes and ears, your doctor may recommend it depending on the location and type of bacterial infection being treated.
It is generally advisable to avoid wearing contact lenses while an eye infection is being treated. Contact lenses may further irritate the eye and can slow recovery. You may resume wearing them when your doctor advises and the infection has resolved.
To help keep the drops sterile, avoid touching the dropper tip with your fingers or allowing it to come into contact with the eye, ear, skin, or any other surface. Always replace the cap tightly after use and store the bottle as instructed.
Continue using Moxilone 0.5% Eye/Ear Drops for the full duration prescribed by your doctor, even if your symptoms improve earlier. Stopping treatment too soon may allow some bacteria to survive, which can lead to the infection returning.
Some individuals may notice improvement in symptoms such as redness, irritation, discharge, or discomfort within a few days of starting treatment. However, the time required for complete recovery can vary depending on the severity and location of the infection.
Yes, if recommended by your doctor. When using more than one eye medication, it is generally advised to leave a gap between applications so that each medicine has enough time to work effectively.
Mild irritation may take a few days to settle, even after the bacteria begin responding to treatment. Recovery depends on the severity of the infection and the body's healing process. Symptoms should gradually improve with regular use of the medicine.
If your symptoms do not improve, worsen, or keep returning despite regular use of Moxilone 0.5% Eye/Ear Drops, speak with your doctor. Further evaluation may be needed to confirm the cause of the infection and determine whether a different treatment approach is required.
Yes. As the bacterial infection begins to clear, symptoms such as redness, discharge, irritation, and discomfort usually improve. Continued use as prescribed helps ensure the infection is treated effectively and supports recovery.
