Introduction of Bambuterol

Monway Plus 10mg/10mg Tablet is used in the treatment of asthma (wheezing and shortness of breath). It relaxes the muscles of the air passages and makes it easier to breathe.

You can take Monway Plus 10mg/10mg Tablet with or without food. The dose will depend on your condition and how your respond to the medicine. Try to take it at the same time each day. It’s important to keep taking this medicine until your doctor tells you not to. Use this medicine regularly to get the most benefit from it even if you feel well.

Monway Plus 10mg/10mg Tablet is generally safe and effective but some common side effects include headache. fast heart rate, tremor, muscle cramp and insomnia. These side effects aren't often dangerous and they should gradually improve as your body gets used to this medicine. There are other, rarer, side effects and you should call your doctor straight away if you get chest pain, a very bad headache or very bad dizziness.

Before using Monway Plus 10mg/10mg Tabletl, you should tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid gland, a history of heart problems, diabetes or low levels of potassium in your blood to make sure it’s safe. Also make sure your doctor knows if you’re pregnant or breast-feeding before taking this medicine. Because this medicine can make you feel dizzy or shaky, don’t drive, cycle or use tools or machinery until you feel better. And you shouldn’t smoke. Smoking causes damage to your lungs and will make your condition worse.

Monway Plus 10mg/10mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It is advised to have it 2 hours before exercise if you have exercise-induced asthma. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. Swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. It does not cure sudden breathing problems, so always carry a medicated inhaler with you. 
It is generally safe medicine with few common side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Generally, you should avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.

Bambuterol

  • Take bambuterol tablets shortly before bedtime.
  • Caution should be exercised in patients with history of diabetes, thyroid disease, high blood pressure, heart disease, problems of liver or kidneys, family history of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye).
  • You should continue taking the medication after the start of treatment with bambuterol, even if the asthma symptoms diminish.
  • If you have moderate to severely impaired renal function (GFR < 50 ml/min), it is recommended that the starting dose of Bambuterol should be halved.
  • If you have severe asthma, you should undergo regular blood tests to monitor the amount of potassium in your blood. 
  • If you are suffering from diabetes, you may need additional medications for blood glucose control, due to the hypoglycemic effect exerted by bambuterol.
  • Consult your doctor as soon as possible if this medicine doesn't relieve wheezing or chest tightness as well as usual, or for as long as usual, or if you need to use it more often than usual.
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.Caution is recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Montelukast

  • You have been prescribed Montelukast for asthma prevention and for the treatment of allergy symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose.

Q. How should I take Bambuterol?

Bambuterol should be taken in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Bambuterol can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day to reduce the chances of a missed dose. However, it is advisable to take Bambuterol just before bedtime with a glass of water.

Q. What if I forget to take a dose of Bambuterol?

High doses of Bambuterol may also cause fast, irregular or pounding heartbeat, uncontrollable shaking of any part of the body and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. In any such case, seek immediate medical attention.

Yes, Bambuterol is considered safe, but its use depends on the severity of your heart problem. However, it would be best to consult your doctor before taking Bambuterol. If you experience chest pain or any other symptom of worsening heart disease while taking Bambuterol, you should seek immediate medical advice.

Q. Why do you have to take Montelukast at night?

Usually, it is recommended to take Montelukast in the evening when it is being used for asthma and allergic rhinitis (cough and cold due to allergy). However, the exact reason for this is not yet known. Some studies have shown that there is no difference in effectiveness whether Montelukast is taken in the evening or morning. Hence, take the medicine as directed by your doctor.

Q. Is Montelukast a steroid?

No, Montelukast is not a steroid. It is a leukotriene blocker. Leukotrienes are natural substances released during an allergic reaction which causes constriction of muscles of airway. It can also cause allergy symptoms. This medicine blocks leukotrienes which helps in relieving symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis.

Q. Does Montelukast make you drowsy?

An uncommon side effect of Montelukast is drowsiness. It can also cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. Consult your doctor if you experience these side effects.

Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Montelukast?

Consumption of alcohol should be restricted while taking Montelukast as it may cause dizziness and drowsiness as a side effect. Also, liver disorders caused as side effect of Montelukast may occur more commonly with use of alcohol.

Q. Can Montelukast cause mood changes?

Yes, although uncommonly but Montelukast may cause mood changes. The symptoms of mood change include anxiety, agitation, aggressive behaviour or hostility, irritability, and restlessness. One may also experience depression and suicidal tendency. Consult your doctor immediately in case you develop any of these symptoms.

Q. Can Montelukast cause weird dreams?

Yes, in rare cases Montelukast may cause night mares, sleeplessness, and sleep walking. You should contact your doctor if these symptoms persist.

Q. How should Montelukast be taken?

Montelukast should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. The medicine should be used preferably in the evening with or without food when being used for asthma. Whereas, for allergic rhinitis, it can be taken at any time of the day but at the same time each day. But, if you are taking it to avoid breathing difficulties during exercise, it should be taken 2 hours before exercise.

Q. How should Montelukast granules be given to children?

It can be directly given in the mouth or dissolve in 1 teaspoonful of cold or room temperature baby formula or breast milk. It can also be used with 1 spoonful of mashed carrots, applesauce, rice, or ice-cream. Remember to give the mixture within 15 minutes of making it.
