MethaClear Tablet is an antiseptic medicine used to prevent urinary tract infections. It works by turning into formaldehyde in acidic urine, which helps kill infection-causing bacteria and keeps the urinary tract free from harmful microbes.
MethaClear Tablet should be taken exactly as prescribed, typically twice daily with or after meals and at bedtime to reduce stomach upset. For optimal results, maintain an acidic urinary environment, as the drug relies on acidic urine (pH ≤ 5.5) to convert into its active antibacterial form, formaldehyde. Avoid alkalinizing agents (like certain antacids), and complete the full course to prevent reinfection or resistance. Regular follow-up with your doctor is advised to monitor treatment response.
Common side effects of MethaClear Tablet include nausea, upset stomach, and rash. If side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor. Always use as directed to minimize risks and ensure safe use.
MethaClear Tablet should not be used in individuals with severely impaired kidney function, severe liver disease, or dehydration, as it may increase the risk of crystal formation and urinary tract irritation. It is also contraindicated in patients with indwelling catheters or those with consistently alkaline urine, as this reduces its effectiveness. Caution is advised in patients with a history of kidney stones or gastrointestinal issues. Always inform your doctor of any existing health conditions or medications, especially sulfonamides, as combining them can increase the risk of side effects.
MethaClear Tablet is primarily used in the prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). It is a common condition where bacteria infect the urinary system, leading to symptoms like pain during urination and frequent urges to urinate. This medicine helps suppress bacterial growth and reduce the risk of repeated infections.

How MethaClear Tablet works
MethaClear Tablet helps prevent urinary tract infections by converting into formaldehyde, a substance that kills bacteria, when the urine is sufficiently acidic. The hippurate component helps maintain the acidic environment needed for this conversion. This targeted action in the urinary tract reduces the risk of developing resistance and is effective in preventing recurring infections.

Having urine infection since about a month. Took several antibiotics after consultation with doctor but they all show effect only for starting 2 days and then that antibiotic doesn't work. I have taken sporidex 500, zefu cv 500, norflox 400, levofloxin, cefodoxime (each taken for atleast 4-5 days). All work for starting two days then no effect and infection starts to increase. Urine culture report is attached. Kindly suggest medication since problem is increasing day by day.
