How Macox-ZH Tablet works

Macox-ZH Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide and Rifampicin which treat tuberculosis. Isoniazid prevents the TB bacteria from forming their own protective covering while Rifampicin works by inactivating a bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase) which is required by these bacteria to make essential proteins and to reproduce. Together, they kill the bacteria and eradicate the infection. Pyrazinamide, on the other hand works by slowing the growth of these bacteria.

Frequently asked questions

Macox-ZH Tablet is an anti-tuberculosis medicine used in children for the treatment of tuberculosis (TB). It contains a combination of medicines that help kill TB-causing bacteria and prevent them from multiplying in the body. It is usually prescribed as part of a complete TB treatment plan and helps control the infection while reducing the risk of disease progression.
Macox-ZH Tablet contains Isoniazid, Rifampicin, and Pyrazinamide, which work together against tuberculosis bacteria in different ways. Isoniazid interferes with the protective cell wall of the bacteria, Rifampicin blocks bacterial growth and multiplication. Pyrazinamide helps kill TB bacteria, especially during the early phase of treatment. Using multiple medicines together helps improve treatment effectiveness and lowers the risk of drug resistance.
Rifampicin is absorbed better when taken on an empty stomach. Taking the medicine before meals may help it work more effectively against TB bacteria. If stomach discomfort occurs, follow your doctor's advice regarding administration.
Yes. Rifampicin may cause orange, red, or reddish-brown discoloration of urine, sweat, tears, and other body fluids. This phenomenon is a known effect of the medicine and is usually not harmful. Soft contact lenses may also become permanently stained.
Some children may start feeling better within a few weeks after starting treatment. However, TB bacteria take much longer to clear completely, and treatment usually continues for several months. Even if symptoms improve early, the infection may still be present and treatment should be continued as prescribed.
Stopping TB treatment early may allow the infection to return and can increase the risk of drug-resistant tuberculosis, which is much harder to treat. Even if your child appears completely well, the full prescribed treatment duration should be completed.
The medicines in Macox-ZH Tablet may affect liver function in some children. Periodic liver function tests help doctors monitor treatment safety and identify liver-related side effects early if they occur. Monitoring may be especially important in children with existing liver problems or prolonged treatment.
Isoniazid may interact with foods containing high amounts of tyramine or histamine. Certain aged cheeses, cured or fermented foods, smoked meats, and some fish products may increase the risk of unwanted reactions in sensitive individuals. Follow the dietary advice provided by your doctor during treatment.
Yes. Rifampicin may affect how several medicines work in the body. It may interact with hormonal contraceptives, blood thinners, anti-epileptic medicines, immunosuppressants, and certain long-term treatments. Always inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, or syrups your child is taking.
Give the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue the regular schedule. Do not give a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Some children may experience dizziness, headache, difficulty concentrating, or visual disturbances during treatment. If these symptoms become severe, persistent, or interfere with daily activities, inform your doctor.
Seek medical attention if your child develops unusual bruising, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, tiny red spots on the skin, persistent fever, or unusual weakness. These symptoms may require medical evaluation and blood testing.
Yes. Inform the doctor before starting treatment if your child has liver disease, jaundice, hepatitis, kidney problems, gout, diabetes, or any other significant medical condition. Macox-ZH Tablet contains Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide, and Rifampicin, which can affect the liver, and Pyrazinamide may increase uric acid levels, potentially worsening gout. Also tell the doctor about any history of alcohol-related liver disease, unexplained fatigue, loss of appetite, persistent nausea, or yellowing of the skin or eyes. Providing a complete medical history helps the doctor determine whether Macox-ZH Tablet is suitable and whether any additional tests or precautions are needed during treatment.
Yes. Alcohol may increase the risk of liver-related side effects associated with anti-tuberculosis medicines. Alcohol-containing preparations should only be used after medical advice. Avoiding alcohol exposure during treatment is generally recommended.
Signs that treatment is working may include improvement in fever, appetite, energy levels, weight gain, reduced cough, and overall improvement in symptoms. Doctors may also monitor progress through clinical evaluation and investigations when required. Even when symptoms improve, treatment should be continued for the full prescribed duration.
After the intensive phase of treatment, your child's doctor may adjust the medicines depending on the treatment plan and response. The exact duration varies depending on the type of TB and clinical progress. Regular follow-up visits remain important throughout treatment.
