Lanfil DX 60 Capsule MR is used to treat heartburn associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive esophagitis, including healing and maintenance of healing of the esophagus. It works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

You should take Lanfil DX 60 Capsule MR as your doctor advises. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for, but it should be the lowest dose for the shortest amount of time needed to treat your condition. It should be given as an injection into the vein by a healthcare professional. It may take up to a few weeks to work properly, but your doctor will tell you how long you need to be taking it for. You should keep on taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms disappear quickly. If you are taking this medicine for a long time, your doctor may carry out regular tests to check your levels of magnesium, which can fall with this medicine.

Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and feeling or being sick. These tend to be mild, but talk to your doctor if they bother you or do not go away. It is not usually recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Relief from heartburn may take a few days; continue taking the medicine regularly even if symptoms improve early.
• Avoid stopping treatment suddenly without medical advice, especially if it is being used for erosive esophagitis or maintenance therapy.
• Limit foods and habits that worsen acid reflux, such as spicy or fatty foods, late-night meals, smoking, and alcohol, to get better symptom control.
• If symptoms do not improve or worsen, or if you develop new symptoms such as persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, or difficulty swallowing, inform your doctor promptly.
• Long-term use should be reviewed periodically by a doctor, as prolonged acid suppression may be associated with nutrient deficiencies or other risks.
