Product introduction

Ignalis MP 500 Tablet SR may be taken on an empty stomach or with a meal. However, the dose will depend on your condition and blood sugar levels; therefore, use it as advised by your doctor and do not stop taking this medicine unless the doctor recommends otherwise. Also, take it regularly and at the same time each day to get the most benefit. It is also crucial to stay on the diet and exercise program recommended by the doctor while taking this medicine.

The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, abdominal pain, and constipation. These effects are usually minor and improve with time. Low blood sugar level (hypoglycemia) is a possible side effect if you are also taking other diabetes medicines, so you need to know how to recognize and deal with it. Contact the doctor if the side effects are worrisome or do not go away.

Before taking Ignalis MP 500 Tablet SR, let the doctor know if you have ever had kidney disease, heart or pancreas problems, or drink a lot of alcohol. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctors before taking this medicine. Some other medicines you are taking may also interfere with this combination drug; therefore, make sure your doctor knows about all the other medicines you are using. Limit your alcohol intake while taking this medicine because it can increase your risk of developing low blood sugar levels. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ignalis MP 500 Tablet SR may be taken with or without food.

How Ignalis MP Tablet SR works

Ignalis MP 500 Tablet SR is a combination of three antidiabetic medications. Metformin decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the glucose made by the liver. It also increases the body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood (blood sugar levels). Pioglitazone works by enhancing cellular responsiveness to insulin and increasing insulin-dependent glucose utilization and disposal. Sitagliptin helps to control blood sugar levels by increasing substances (incretins) in the body that make the pancreas release more insulin. It also signals the liver to stop producing sugar (glucose) when there is too much sugar in the blood.

Quick tips

  • Prefer taking Ignalis MP 500 Tablet SR after a meal or with a snack, as this will reduce the chance of an upset stomach.
  • Ignalis MP 500 Tablet SR may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) symptoms, such as fatigue, dizziness, cold sweats, tremor, and anxiety.
  • If you get unusually thirsty, pass urine more frequently, and feel tired, let your doctor know. These are signs that there is too much sugar in your blood and your dose may need adjusting.
  • Monitor your blood sugar regularly while taking this medicine.
  • Lifestyle changes like low sugar diet, exercising, losing weight, not smoking, and cutting down on alcohol intake may help this medication work better.

Individuals should not take Ignalis MP 500 Tablet SR if they are allergic to metformin, pioglitazone, or sitagliptin. It should also be avoided in individuals who have severe kidney problems, liver disease, heart failure, current or past bladder cancer, or diabetic ketoacidosis (dangerous build‑up of acids in blood).
Yes, pancreatitis has been reported with sitagliptin present in Ignalis MP 500 Tablet SR. Seek immediate medical attention for severe, persistent belly pain that may reach the back, with or without nausea or vomiting.

Stop Ignalis MP 500 Tablet SR, and get medical help for signs of lactic acidosis, or a severe allergic reaction (rash, hives, blistering/peeling, swelling of face/lips/tongue, trouble breathing). Your doctor may advise you to pause before major surgery, and during severe dehydration, and follow your doctor’s plan to restart safely.
No. Ignalis MP 500 Tablet SR cannot treat type-1 diabetes. It is used only for type 2 diabetes.
