Frequently asked questions

Ifsamide-M Injection is an anticancer medicine used to treat certain types of cancer. Your doctor may prescribe it for cancers such as testicular cancer, soft tissue sarcoma, lymphoma, and other cancers where treatment with Ifosfamide is considered appropriate. It is usually given as part of a carefully planned chemotherapy regimen under specialist supervision.
Ifsamide-M Injection contains Ifosfamide and Mesna. Ifosfamide is a chemotherapy medicine that works by damaging the genetic material of cancer cells, preventing them from growing and multiplying. Mesna is included to help protect the urinary tract from certain harmful by-products produced when Ifosfamide is broken down in the body. Together, they help provide effective cancer treatment while reducing the risk of treatment-related bladder complications.
Mesna is added to the formulation to help protect the bladder and urinary tract from irritation and damage that can occur during Ifosfamide treatment. It binds to harmful substances produced by Ifosfamide and helps the body eliminate them safely through the urine.
Ifsamide-M Injection is administered by a doctor in a hospital or oncology setting. The dose, infusion schedule, and treatment duration depend on the type of cancer being treated, your body weight, overall health, and response to therapy. Do not attempt to self-administer this medicine.
The duration of treatment varies depending on the type of cancer, treatment goals, and your response to therapy. Chemotherapy is often given in cycles, allowing the body time to recover between treatments. Your doctor will determine the most appropriate treatment schedule for you.
Adequate hydration helps the body flush out the breakdown products of Ifosfamide through the urine. This works alongside Mesna to help protect the bladder and urinary tract during treatment. Follow your doctor's instructions regarding fluid intake before, during, and after treatment.
Blood in the urine should be reported to your doctor immediately. Although Mesna helps protect the bladder, any change in urine colour, visible blood, pain during urination, or urinary discomfort requires prompt medical attention.
Your doctor will usually monitor your progress with regular blood tests and other assessments throughout treatment. These checks help evaluate your response to therapy and ensure that the treatment remains appropriate and safe. The frequency of monitoring depends on your treatment plan.
Cancer treatments containing Ifosfamide may affect fertility in some individuals. If future family planning is important to you, discuss fertility preservation options with your doctor before starting treatment.
Regular follow-up visits allow your doctor to monitor how well the treatment is working, assess your overall health, review test results, and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.
Ifsamide-M Injection may be used alone or as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen depending on the type and stage of cancer being treated. Your doctor will determine the most appropriate treatment approach based on your individual condition.
The Ifosfamide in Ifsamide-M Injection interferes with the growth and multiplication of cancer cells. By slowing or stopping cancer cell growth, it helps control disease progression and forms an important part of cancer treatment in selected patients.
