Uses of Glyten Tablet

Glyten Tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

  • Headache
  • Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar level) in combination with insulin or sulphonylurea
  • Upper respiratory tract infection
  • Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages)

How to use Glyten Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glyten Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Glyten Tablet works

Glyten Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It works by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas and decreasing the hormones that raise blood sugar levels. This reduces the fasting and postmeal sugar levels.

Alcohol
Interaction with alcohol is unknown. Please consult your doctor.
Pregnancy
Unknown. Human and animal studies are not available. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
No information is available on the use of Glyten Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Driving
Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is low or high. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
SAFE
Glyten Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Glyten Tablet is recommended.
Liver
Glyten Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Glyten Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Glyten Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Glyten Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Expert Advice

  • Glyten Tablet is used alone or together with other diabetes medicines to control blood sugar and avoid long-term complications.
  • You should continue to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines (if prescribed) along with Glyten Tablet.
  • It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine. 
  • Chances of weight gain and low blood sugar are lesser as compared to other diabetes medicines.
  • Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxiety.
  • Inform your doctor if you notice joint pains or develop symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, and/or vomiting.
  • Take it at the same time every day to help you remember to take it.
  • Be careful while driving or operating machinery until you know how Glyten Tablet affects you.

Q. How to take Glyten?

The usual dose of Glyten is once a day with or without food. Take it preferably at the same time every day. Read the product label carefully before use and follow your doctor's advice.

Q. Can Glyten be taken along with metformin?

Yes, Glyten can be taken with metformin. It is a good add-on treatment if the blood sugars are very high even after taking metformin. The risk of low blood sugar level (hypoglycemia) is very low with both the medicines.
