Farabine 20mg Injection

Farabine 20mg Injection is also used with certain other medicines as part of combination chemotherapy. It is given as an injection into the vein under the supervision of a doctor. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised.

The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and rash. This medicine may reduce the number of blood cells (decrease red blood and white blood cells) in your blood, thereby, increasing the susceptibility to infections. Regular blood tests are required to check your blood cells along with heart, liver, and blood uric acid levels.

Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have heart disease, liver, or kidney problems or are taking any medicines to treat infections. Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine so let your doctor know all medications you are using. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The use of effective contraception by both males and females during treatment is important to avoid pregnancy.

• Blood cancer (Acute lymphocytic leukemia)

Farabine 20mg Injection is given into a vein by a doctor. In children and adolescents aged 1 year and older, it is usually given once daily for 5 consecutive days, with each infusion lasting about 2 hours. The dose is calculated from the patient's height and weight. Treatment courses may be repeated after the body has recovered, and your doctor may reduce or delay treatment depending on blood counts, organ function, infections, or other side effects. 

• Use a reliable contraceptive method to prevent pregnancy while you are taking this medicine.
• Inform your doctor immediately if you notice any signs of infection such as fever, sore throat, rash or severe diarrhea.
• Tell the doctor about all medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines. Medicines that can affect the kidneys or liver may need particular attention during the 5-day treatment period.
• Report blistering, peeling skin, or mouth ulcers immediately. Rare but serious skin reactions, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis, have been seen.
• Discuss future fertility and family planning before treatment when appropriate. Women who can become pregnant should use effective contraception during treatment and for 6 months afterward, while men should use effective contraception and avoid fathering a child during treatment and for 3 months afterward.
• Do not ignore rapid breathing, breathlessness, dizziness, fainting, swelling, or a change in heartbeat during treatment. These can accompany serious reactions that need immediate assessment.
