How to use Etody Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Etody 90 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Etody Tablet works

Etody 90 Tablet is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) called COX-2 inhibitors. It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that are responsible for pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).

Driving

No. Etody is not a narcotic. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug(NSAID).

Yes. It is a pain killer. It belongs to the class of medications known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).

Q. What is the difference between Etody and celecoxib?

Both Etody and celecoxib are the medicines which inhibit an enzyme COX-2 (Cyclooxygenase-2) causes pain and inflammation. However, according to the research studies, Etody is better than celecoxib in terms of effectiveness.

No. Etody is a pain killer. It should be avoided in hypertension as it can lead to failure of the antihypertensive therapy and there is increased risk of fluid retention and oedema.

Normally painkillers are to be avoided in a patient with diabetes. Etody can increase the risk of kidney failure when given in a patient of diabetes with compromised renal function. Inform your doctor if you have diabetes before starting Etody.

Q. Can I take Etody along with Thiocolchicoside?

Yes. Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant which is given in combination with Etody but it is not approved. Consult your doctor before starting this medication.

Q. How to differentiate Etody and meloxicam?

Meloxicam causes gastric toxicity and can lead to black stools due to bleeding whereas Etody is comparatively safer for the gastric mucosa. Etody has cardiovascular (heart attack and stroke) side effects.

Blood levels of methotrexate is increased when it is given with Etody. Proper monitoring of the blood levels and adequate dose adjustments are required if they are prescribed together.

Q. Can I take lithium with Etody?

Etody decrease lithium renal excretion and therefore increase lithium plasma levels. If necessary, monitor blood lithium closely and adjust the lithium dosage while the combination is being taken.

Q. Can I take Etody with tacrolimus?

No. You should avoid Etody with tacrolimus. It increases the risk of kidney damage by many folds when these two are given together.

Q. Can I take Etody for osteoarthritis?

Yes, you can take Etody for osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a joint disease and Etody may help in reducing the pain associated with the disease.

Q. Can I take Etody in heart disease?

No, you should not take Etody if you have heart disease or increased risk of heart disease. Etody increases the risk of heart attack, stroke and hypertension. Inform your doctor if you have heart disease before you start taking Etody.
