Dilomet Tablet is taken with food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The most common side effects are nausea, dryness in mouth, flatulence, headache, and metallic taste. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your dizziness.
Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. You should also tell your doctor if you have kidney diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you.

Dilomet Tablet may make you feel sleepy, dizzy, confused. You may have hallucinations, fits (convulsions) or temporary eyesight problems (such as blurred or double vision) affecting your ability to drive.
What if you forget to take Dilomet Tablet?

- Diarrhea can cause water loss and electrolyte imbalance. Drink plenty of fluids especially ORS (oral rehydration solution) to help keep you hydrated.
- Stick to simple meals and avoid spicy rich food in order to avoid feeling sick (nausea).
- Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
- Do not drink alcohol while taking and till 4 days after taking this medication. This is because drinking alcohol with Dilomet Tablet is likely to make you feel very sick (nauseated) and cause other unpleasant effects, such as hot flushes, headaches, and palpitations (fast heartbeat).
- Consult your doctor if your diarrhea lasts for more than 48 hours.
