This medicine is only part of a treatment program that should include a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight reduction as advised by your doctor.

The most common side effects of this medicine include hypoglycemia, dizziness, asthenia, headache, and nausea. Let your doctor know if any of these side effects get worse or persist for a long time. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood.
