Uses of Derivent Syrup
Benefits of Derivent Syrup
Asthma is a condition in which your airways become narrow and as a result, breathing becomes difficult. Derivent Syrup works by relaxing the muscles of the airways and widens it. As a result, it becomes easier for air to move in and out. It also thins and loosens mucus in the airways, helping you to cough out. This makes you breathe easy and gives relief from symptoms such as tightness in your chest, shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. Regular exercise and yoga can help improve the symptoms of asthma in the long term, in addition to improving overall health.

Quick tips
- You have been prescribed Derivent Syrup for the treatment of asthma.

- If at any time your breathing gets worse, please contact your doctor or nurse for advice straightaway.
- Inform your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure or diabetes.
- If you are due to have an operation or any dental treatment, tell the person carrying out the treatment which medicines you are taking, as some anesthetics can interfere with Derivent Syrup.
