How to use Depsolam Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Depsolam 0.25 mg/25 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Depsolam Tablet works

Depsolam 0.25 mg/25 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Alprazolam and imipramine which treat depression. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine (BZD) which works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Imipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant which increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Depsolam 0.25 mg/25 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy

Depsolam 0.25 mg/25 mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Depsolam 0.25 mg/25 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
As Depsolam 0.25 mg/25 mg Tablet may impair your alertness or cause drowsiness or blurred vision, and this may affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
Depsolam 0.25 mg/25 mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Depsolam 0.25 mg/25 mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Depsolam 0.25 mg/25 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Depsolam 0.25 mg/25 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Regular monitoring of liver function tests is recommended while you are taking this medicine.
