Benefits of Covent Syrup

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is a group of lung diseases that cause breathing difficulties. COPD is caused by swelling of the airways that carry air in and out of the lungs. Covent Syrup relaxes the muscles of these airways and widens it. This makes you breathe easy and gives relief from symptoms such as tightness in your chest, shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. Avoid smoking and minimise your exposure to pollution, dust and fumes. Along with that, a little exercise each day can help you stay strong. Talk to your doctor about how much exercise is good for you.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Covent Syrup may be taken with or without food.

How Covent Syrup works

Covent Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Choline Theophyllinate and Terbutaline. They work by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widen the airways. This makes breathing easier.

Quick tips

  • You have been prescribed Covent Syrup for the treatment of asthma.
  • It should be taken at the same time each day, preferably in the evening after food.
  • It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Always keep a fast-acting (rescue) inhaler with you.
  • Your doctor may get regular blood tests done to make sure that you are taking the right dose.
  • Your doctor may regularly monitor your  blood potassium levels. Inform your doctor if you notice muscle twitching or weakness, or an irregular heartbeat.
  • Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better.
