How Chophos Injection works

Chophos 1000 mg Injection is an anti-cancer medication. It is an alkylating agent which works by damaging the genetic material (DNA and RNA) of the cancer cells, thereby stopping their growth and multiplication. This is how it works against cancer.

Pregnancy

Chophos 1000 mg Injection is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
UNSAFE
Chophos 1000 mg Injection is unsafe to use during lactation. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby, or the mother is suffering from a condition in which breastfeeding is not advisable.
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Chophos 1000 mg Injection may cause undesirable effects (e.g., dizziness, blurred vision, visual impairment) which could affect the ability to drive.
Kidney
Chophos 1000 mg Injection should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Chophos 1000 mg Injection may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver

Q. Can Chophos cause infertility?

Yes, Chophos can cause infertility in both men and women. It may interfere with the normal menstrual cycle in women and may stop sperm production in men. If you are considering becoming parents after the treatment please discuss this with your doctor. Talk to your doctor about cryopreservation (freezing) of sperm or eggs prior to treatment because of the possibility of irreversible infertility due to therapy with Chophos.

Q. Do I need to avoid sun exposure during treatment with Chophos?

No, there is no evidence that you need to avoid sun exposure while on Chophos. Skin and nail discoloration are reported rarely with Chophos.

Q. Can Chophos cause cancer?

Cancer medicines and radiation therapy can increase the risk of developing other cancers. These may not develop soon and may take a number of years after the completion of your treatment. The risk of developing cancer with Chophos is high in the urinary bladder. Other rare cancers that may occur with use of Chophos include Acute leukemia, Myelodysplastic syndrome, and cancer of the ureters.

Q. Is Chophos chemotherapy medicine?

Yes, Chophos is a chemotherapy medicine, it belongs to the class of alkylating agents. It works by killing cancer cells. It is also known as cytotoxic medicine.

Q. Can Chophos be used for non-cancer condition?

Yes, Chophos can be used to treat nephrotic syndrome (a disease that is caused by damage to the kidneys) in children whose disease has not improved, has gotten worse, or has come back after taking other medications. Along with that, it can be used in children who experienced intolerable side effects with other medications. However, in adults, the safety and effectiveness of Chophos for nephrotic syndrome has not been established.

Q. Can Chophos causes weight loss?

Yes, Chophos may cause weight loss because of reduced appetite. This reduction in weight could be due to underlying cancer. Consult your doctor, if weight loss is worrying you.
