Product introduction

Cartum 125mg Tablet effectively treats bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, lungs, skin, soft tissues, bones, joints, and urinary tract in children. It is also given to prevent infection in animal and human bite wounds and may also be given before surgical procedures as a preventive therapy.

Cartum 125mg Tablet can be given either before or after meals but giving it with food improves absorption and reduces the chances of stomach upset in your child. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of the intake, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it is already time for the next dose.

This medicine may have some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, allergy, and transient increased in liver enzyme. These episodes should start receding after a few doses. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without any delay.

Narrate your child’s complete medical history to your child’s doctor, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, a blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Cartum 125mg Tablet on a long-term basis?

The doctor may prescribe getting kidney function tests and liver function tests periodically to keep a check on your child’s condition.

Does a common cold caused by viruses always result in a secondary bacterial infection? When to start an antibiotic to prevent infection?

Antibiotics kill the infection-causing bacteria, but while doing this they may affect the good bacteria present in the gastrointestinal tract. In case your child is having diarrhea while on Cartum 125mg Tablet, do not stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to ask about the next steps. In some cases, the doctor may alter the dose.
