Check the label for directions before use. Shake the inhaler. While you are breathing in from mouth, press down on the inhaler one time to release the medication and hold your breath for 10 seconds. Repeat until you have inhaled the number of puffs as suggested by the doctor.Afterwards, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water and spit it out.

Expert advice for Salbutamol / Albuterol

  • Use salbutamol inhalation exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
  • Always keep the inhaler upright during the loading of the dose and administration steps.
  • If you can feel a slightly sweet tasting powder in your mouth after inhaling, you have received the dose and the active substance has reached your lungs.
  • During use, regularly wipe the mouthpiece with a fibre-free tissue or soft cloth.
  • Always replace the inhaler cap after you have used the inhaler.
  • Always tell your doctor if you suffer from an over active thyroid gland.
  • Take special precaution if you experience chest pains.
  • Take special care with salbutamol if you suffer from any disease of the heart.

  • Avoid sudden discontinuation of sodium cromoglycate therapy as it may result in reoccurrence of symptoms.
  • You should not use inhalations of sodium cromoglycate for acute attack of bronchospasm (sudden severe attacks of air passage constriction).
  • Discontinue inhalation treatment if you develop eosinophilic pneumonia  (a condition in which blood cells called eosinophils accumulate in the lungs).
  • Do not touch the tip of eye drop bottle to your fingers, eyes or surrounding areas to avoid contamination. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver functioning problems before taking oral sodium cromoglycate.
  • Oral sodium cromoglycate should be used with caution in children under 2 years of age.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
