Aristogyl Plus Tablet is taken with food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are nausea, dryness in mouth, flatulence, headache, and metallic taste. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your dizziness.

Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. You should also tell your doctor if you have kidney diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you.

Diarrhea is an increase in the frequency of bowel movements or loose watery bowel movements. It can most commonly occur due to an infection of the digestive tract. Aristogyl Plus Tablet helps to treat diarrhea that is caused due to bacteria or parasitic worm infections. This medicine can relieve frequent loose motions and also help you to stay well by preventing them from coming back. You need to take this medicine regularly to get the most out of it and you should drink plenty of fluids while taking it to make sure you stay hydrated.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How to use Aristogyl Plus Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Aristogyl Plus Tablet should be taken with or after food.

How Aristogyl Plus Tablet works

Aristogyl Plus Tablet is a combination of three medicines: metronidazole, diloxanide, and simethicone. Metronidazole and diloxanide act against intestinal parasites and bacteria that cause infection, helping clear the infection from the gut. Simethicone helps break down gas bubbles in the intestines, relieving bloating and abdominal discomfort associated with diarrhea.

Quick tips

Diarrhea can cause water loss and electrolyte imbalance. Drink plenty of fluids especially ORS (oral rehydration solution) to help keep you hydrated.
Stick to simple meals and avoid spicy rich food in order to avoid feeling sick (nausea).
Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
Do not drink alcohol while taking and till 4 days after taking this medication. This is because drinking alcohol with Aristogyl Plus Tablet is likely to make you feel very sick (nauseated) and cause other unpleasant effects, such as hot flushes, headaches, and palpitations (fast heartbeat).
Consult your doctor if your diarrhea lasts for more than 48 hours.

Consumption of alcohol with Aristogyl Plus Tablet may cause a disulfiram-like reaction, leading to symptoms such as flushing, increased heart rate, low blood pressure, nausea, lightheadedness, and severe headache.

Pregnancy

The safety of Aristogyl Plus Tablet during pregnancy has not been established. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, and animal data on reproductive toxicity are insufficient. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing.

Breast feeding

Aristogyl Plus Tablet may be unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby. It should be used only if the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk. Please consult your doctor.

Driving

UNSAFE

Aristogyl Plus Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Aristogyl Plus Tablet may make you feel sleepy, dizzy, confused. You may have hallucinations, fits (convulsions) or temporary eyesight problems (such as blurred or double vision) affecting your ability to drive.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Aristogyl Plus Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment is recommended.

Liver

CAUTION

Aristogyl Plus Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
