Alevict 2.5mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dose required by you may vary depending on what you are taking it for. This medicine is usually taken in the evening, but follow the advice of your doctor on how to take it. How Alevict Tablet works

Alevict 2.5mg Tablet belongs to a class of medicines called antihistamines. It blocks the natural chemical substance (histamine) produced in the body during an allergic state. It also subsides (lowers) your child’s immune system’s response to these conditions, thereby reducing the symptoms.

Quick tips

Try giving the medicines at the same time each day, to help you remember.
Your child may feel sleepy or dizzy after each dose of Alevict 2.5mg Tablet. If this happens, make your child sit or lie down and ask them to be careful while performing tasks that require mental focus.
Avoid giving Alevict 2.5mg Tablet with fatty meals and fruit juice as both can reduce the absorption of the medicine.
Dry mouth can occur as a side effect of taking Alevict 2.5mg Tablet. Taking sips of water may help.
Alevict 2.5mg Tablet can trigger constipation in your child. Give plenty of fluids and a fiber-rich diet to your child.
Alevict 2.5mg Tablet should be avoided in children who are less than 4 years of age as there is a risk of respiratory distress.

Alevict 2.5mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of Alevict 2.5mg Tablet is recommended.
However, dose adjustments may be required in severe liver disease. Consult your doctor before giving Alevict 2.5mg Tablet to your child in case of severe liver disease.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Alevict with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Thalidomide (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms of Thalidomide side effects such as drowsiness, excessive sedation, tiredness, dizziness or slurred speech and consult your doctor if you experience them. It is advised to avoid driving or undertaking other tasks requiring skill and alertness.

Moderate

Dalteparin (Injection Route)

Your doctor may frequently monitor your blood clotting time. Levocetirizine may reduce the efficacy of Dalteparin.

No, although this medicine causes drowsiness as a side effect, it should not be given to induce sleep in children. Consult your child’s doctor if your child has trouble sleeping as it could be due to some other underlying condition.
