Monotrate 20 Tablet is a medicine used to help prevent angina, which is chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. It works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily to the heart and reducing the heart’s workload. This helps prevent episodes of chest pain during daily activities. However, Monotrate 20 Tablet is not intended to relieve sudden angina attacks once they have started. Because the medicine can lower blood pressure, some people may feel dizzy or light-headed, especially when standing up quickly.

Monotrate 20 Tablet may affect heart rate in some people. Because the medicine lowers blood pressure by widening blood vessels, the body may respond by increasing the heart rate (reflex tachycardia) in some cases. These changes are usually mild, but if you notice a significant change in heart rate or feel unwell after taking the medicine, you should consult your doctor.

Monotrate 20 Tablet may begin working the same day you start taking it, but its main purpose is to prevent angina over time rather than provide immediate symptom relief. The medicine releases its active ingredient slowly to maintain a steady protective effect. Because it works gradually, you may not feel any immediate difference even though it is helping protect your heart.

Monotrate 20 Tablet is usually taken once daily in the morning unless your doctor recommends a different schedule. Taking it at the same time every day helps maintain a consistent effect in the body. Doctors often schedule the dose in a way that allows a daily nitrate-free interval, which helps prevent the body from becoming tolerant to the medicine. If your doctor prescribes it twice daily, the doses are usually spaced several hours apart.

If you forget to take a dose of Monotrate 20 Tablet, take it as soon as you remember, as long as it is within about 12 hours of the scheduled time. If more than 12 hours have passed, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time. Do not take two doses at the same time to make up for a missed one.

Headache is one of the most common side effects of Monotrate 20 Tablet. Some people may also experience flushing, dizziness, or symptoms of low blood pressure. These effects occur because the medicine widens blood vessels. Headaches often improve as the body adjusts to the medication. If headaches are severe or persistent, consult your doctor.

Taking more than the recommended dose of Monotrate 20 Tablet may cause symptoms such as a severe throbbing headache, flushing of the skin, sweating, chills, nausea, vomiting, or a rapid heartbeat. If an overdose is suspected, seek emergency medical help immediately and contact your doctor.

While taking Monotrate 20 Tablet, avoid using medicines for erectile dysfunction such as sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil unless your doctor specifically approves them. Combining these medicines can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Alcohol should also be limited because it may increase dizziness or light-headedness. Rise slowly from sitting or lying positions to reduce the risk of fainting.

Monotrate 20 Tablet does not usually cause direct sleepiness. However, some people may feel dizzy or tired due to its blood pressure–lowering effect. If you feel faint or unsteady after taking the medicine, avoid driving or operating machinery until you feel better. If these symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

Monotrate 20 Tablet is not commonly known to directly harm the kidneys or liver. However, if blood pressure drops too low or if dehydration occurs, kidney function may be affected in some people.
