Description of Hypertensive emergency

In hypertension (high blood pressure), the blood vessels have persistently raised pressure. The systolic blood pressure is ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mmHg. Hypertensive emergency is the severe increase in BP (>180/120 mm Hg) with associated damage of organs like brain, heart, kidney, etc.
