ROS-1 by IHC

ROS-1 by IHC is a test used to detect genetic changes (mutations) in the ROS-1 (Repressor of Silencing 1) gene. This gene undergoes genetic rearrangements in various cancers including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This test uses a specific technique, immunohistochemistry or IHC that is an effective screening tool for the detection of ROS1 rearrangements. Due to structural similarity in ALK and ROS1, the US FDA has approved Crizotinib for positive cases of ROS1. Also in ROS1-expressed tumors, non-genetic rearranged tumors can be immune reactive, so confirmatory FISH is necessary.
