Know more about this test

A positron emission tomography (PET) scan traces the radioactive compound as it passes through the body. PET, along with computed tomography (CT), is used to capture images of the whole body. A PSMA PET CT Scan Whole Body identifies the areas of the body where the PSMA (prostate-specific membrane antigen) is, which points to the presence of prostate cancer cells. It, therefore, identifies the spread of cancer. The radioactive tracer is taken intravenously.
The total time for the PSMA PET CT Scan Whole Body test is about two hours. Fast for 2 hours before the procedure. The radioactive tracer is given in minimal amounts, and no side effects have been reported. The FDA recently approved it after years of clinical research.
