Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a harmless imaging technique that produces accurate images of the body in detail. Only the patient's right leg is placed within the magnetic scanner's tunnel during this test. The images are mostly used to evaluate soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, and ligaments to diagnose some joint or muscle injuries as fractures in some circumstances. A contrasting dye may be used to obtain clear images, but consult a doctor first in case of allergies.

It is a time-consuming procedure that may take 45-60 minutes to complete. It is regarded as a safer alternative to conventional imaging procedures for everyone, including pregnant women, because it uses radio waves and magnetic waves instead of X-rays for imaging.

FAQs related to MRI Right Leg (MRI)

X-ray images give a very clear view of the bones. However, it does not provide a good visual image of the soft tissues like tendons, muscles or fat tissue under the skin. Even the bone microfractures or complicated spine injuries are not clearly visible on the X Ray images. Apart from this, it also exposes the patient to some amount of radiations but the benefit of the information gained from an X-ray image outweighs the risk of radiations.
The interpretation of an X-Ray image is carried out by a radiologist who analyses or reads the X-ray image and prepares a report of the findings which is shared with the patient.
