Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Chest with Contrast creates images of the chest cavity, chest wall, pleura, heart and blood vessels. The contrast helps in increasing the visibility of the internal organs and hence improves the sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy of the MRI scan.
It is prescribed by a doctor if he suspects problems in chest bones or soft tissues, internal injury and malformations in lymphatic system. It is also helpful in assessing myocardial perfusion and infarction. Inform the doctor if you have already been operated on for fixing a stent in your body.

Preparations

You might be asked to remove metallic coins, jewelry, metal wristwatches, metallic keys, dentures, or hearing aids, as the MRI uses strong magnetic fields.

Tell your radiologist if you have metallic implants like pacemakers, cochlear implants, aneurysm clips, neuro-stimulators, surgical staples/clips, or drug implants.

Pregnant women should inform their doctor about their pregnancy before going for an MRI.

Creatinine blood test reports are required (not older than 15 days).

One attendant is mandatory for this test.

To diagnose myocardial perfusion (blood flow pattern to the heart) and myocardial infarction (scarring of the heart muscles due to poor flow or blockage)

To find out tumor/cancer size of the heart (valves), lungs, and blood flow pattern of in the blood vessels of the heart and its chamber
