Understanding Gout Assement Single Joint
What is Gout Assement Single Joint?
This test is used to diagnose gout, which commonly affects a single joint at a time. It is an acute painful form of arthritis and can sometimes progress to a worse condition known as gouty arthritis. Symptoms of gout include pain, swelling, heat and redness of joint. It is caused due to excessive accumulation of uric acid in the body leading to the deposition of monosodium urate crystals in the synovial fluid of the joints. It primarily affects the lower limbs and toes.
A gout assessment involves a group of tests including uric acid, synovial fluid analysis, rheumatoid Factor, antinuclear antibody and kidney stone analysis.
People having excess of purine rich food, kidney impairment, heart disorder, hypertension and diabetes are more prone to gout.
