EGFR by FISH
EGFR by FISH is a test used to detect genetic changes (mutations) in epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene. This gene is responsible for growth and development of the cells. Mutations in this gene are responsible for the development of certain types of cancer such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). You may get this test done when you have been diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer. This test may help the doctor determine the appropriate treatment options such as specific therapy targeting EGFR gene (targeted therapy) for EGFR-positive cancer individuals and provide important information that can guide treatment decisions.
