Understanding Covid Antibody IgG (Quantitative)
What is Covid Antibody IgG (Quantitative)?
Covid Antibody IgG (Quantitative) test is a blood test to detect the presence of IgG antibodies formed in response to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. These antibodies develop after 2 weeks of encountering the virus. This test is advised for both asymptomatic patients having no symptoms and symptomatic patients with persistent fever, cough, and body aches.
Although in most of the cases covid 19 affected patients show mild symptoms and can be cured at home with medical supervision. However, a person tested positive for COVID-19 should be isolated immediately and given adequate treatment to avoid the severity of the disease.
As post covid complications can affect the multiple organs of the body hence a full body checkup should also be followed up after recovering from covid. It should be noted that a positive test result may also be seen after getting COVID-19 vaccination.
Interpreting Covid Antibody IgG (Quantitative) results
Interpretations
Measuring interval ranges from 21.0 AU/ml to 80,000 AU/mL.
< 50.0 AU/ml (Negative) - Indicates the absence of Anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike protein antibodies. However, It does not rule out the possibility of an infection with SARS-CoV-2.
>=50.0 AU/ml (Positive) - Indicates presence of Anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike protein antibodies which indicates recent or past infection by the virus or vaccination.
