Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive imaging technique used to get detailed images of body parts. It gets clear images of the heart, arteries, and veins. It is used to diagnose various heart ailments and blood flow through the arteries.
For this test, the patient is made to wear loose clothes and remove any metallic items. The patient is then made to lie on a movable table that enters into an MRI machine. The MRI machine scans the required organs, and when the image is achieved, the patient is removed from the MRI machine. The doctor studies the images obtained and devices the future treatment. People having chronic kidney ailments and pregnant women must disclose their conditions to the doctor beforehand.

You might be asked to remove metallic coins, jewelry, metal wristwatches, metallic keys, dentures, or hearing aids, as the MRI uses strong magnetic fields.

Tell your radiologist if you have metallic implants like pacemakers, cochlear implants, aneurysm clips, neuro-stimulators, surgical staples/clips, or drug implants.

Pregnant women should inform their doctor about their pregnancy before going for an MRI.
