Overview
What is Arterial & Venous Doppler Right Lower Limb?
Arterial and venous Doppler - Right Lower Limb is an imaging technique employed to get clear images of the arteries and veins of the right leg. A hydrogel is spread across a handheld device (technically called the transducer) and is hovered over the target site or sometimes pressed firmly. These ultrasound waves then reflect off the vessels and provide images. If need be, blood pressure cuffs are put to help with better accuracy. This way, any clog or change in the structure of blood vessels and their composition can be easily identified and treated.
Please get your test done if you experience symptoms of abnormal blood flow to your right leg like cramps, pain, inflammation or loss of sensation.
Why is Arterial & Venous Doppler Right Lower Limb done?
- To detect any location of the blockage or blood clot within the valves of the veins / arteries of the right lower limb
- To find out the condition of stroke due to decreased blood flow or blockage in the arteries and veins in the right lower limb
- To diagnose deep vein thrombosis (a clot formation inside the deep veins) and thromboangiitis obliterans (inflammation of the blood vessels of hands and feet)
- To evaluate thrombophlebitis (vein inflammation due to a clot formation) and arteriosclerosis (narrowing of the arteries which supplies blood to the leg)
