How to use Zincold LP Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Zincold LP Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Take it with food if stomach upset occurs.

How Zincold LP Tablet works

Zincold LP Tablet is a combination of four medicines: Caffeine, Paracetamol / Acetaminophen, Levocetirizine and Phenylephrine. Caffeine is a decongestant which narrows small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Paracetamol / Acetaminophen is an antiallergic which relieves symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Levocetirizine is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that are responsible for pain and fever. Phenylephrine is a stimulant which prevents sleepiness caused by Paracetamol / Acetaminophen. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that cause pain and fever. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Caffeine is a stimulant which increases the effectiveness of paracetamol and decreases sleepiness due to cetirizine. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing temporary relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.

Pregnancy

Zincold LP Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Zincold LP Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Zincold LP Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney

Q. What is Zincold lp?
Zincold lp is a combination of four medicines: Caffeine, Paracetamol, Levocetirizine and Phenylephrine. This combination is helpful in relieving the symptoms of cold such as body ache, headache, fatigue, fever, watery eyes, sneezing, cough, sore throat, runny and stuffy nose.
Q. Are there any foods which I have to avoid while taking Zincold lp?
Zincold lp contains caffeine, so, it is preferable to avoid medicines or food that also contains caffeine like coffee, tea, cola drinks, chocolate as they may add to your total caffeine intake. Increased caffeine intake can cause difficulty in sleeping, you may experience tremors and/or may have chest discomfort. Also avoid drinking alcohol (beer, wine etc) while you are taking this medicine.
Q. Can the use of Zincold lp cause sleepiness or drowsiness?
Yes, Zincold lp may make you feel drowsy or may cause you to fall asleep during your regular daily activities. Do not drive car, operate machinery, work at heights, or participate in potentially dangerous activities at the beginning of your treatment until you know how the medicine affects you. Inform your doctor if you experience such episode while you are taking this medicine.
Q. Any special instruction regarding storage and disposal of this medicine?
Store your medicines in a cool dry place and keep them in the original pack or container until it is time to take them. Store them out of sight and out of reach from children. Unused medicines should be disposed of in special ways to ensure that pets, children, and other people cannot consume them.
Q. Are there any serious side effects associated with the use of Zincold lp?
Serious side effects with Zincold lp are uncommon and rare. Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you notice any of the following: allergic reactions, skin rash or peeling, mouth ulcers, breathing problems, unexplained bleeding, recurrent fevers or infections, vision disturbances, fast or irregular heartbeat.
Q. Will Zincold lp be more effective if taken in more than recommended dose?
No, taking a higher than the recommended dose may not be more effective, rather it may increase the chances of having serious side effects and toxicity. If you do not find any relief in your symptoms or there is an increased severity of your symptoms while you are taking this medicine in the recommended doses, please consult your doctor.
Q. Are there any contraindication associated with use of this drug?
Yes, use of Zincold lp should be avoided or taken when advised by the doctor if you have high blood pressure (hypertension), any underlying serious heart condition or cardiovascular disorder, any history of stomach ulcers or overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). The use of Zincold lp should also be avoided if you are taking antidepressant drugs called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI’s) like phenelzine and isocarboxazid or tricyclic antidepressants like imipramine and amitriptyline.
Q. Can I breastfeed while taking Zincold lp?
No, it is not advisable to breastfeed while using Zincold lp. This medicine contains Levocetirizine, an antihistamine which can pass into the breast milk and may harm the baby. Inform your healthcare provider if you are advised to take this medicine while you are breastfeeding the baby.
