Zidium Injection is given by your doctor or nurse. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The most common side effects are constipation, diarrhea, headache, weakness, and muscle pain. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. It may also cause drowsiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your drowsiness.
Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. You should also tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you.

How Zidium Injection works
Zidium Injection is a combination of two medicines: Dicyclomine and Ranitidine. Dicyclomine is an antispasmodic which works by relaxing the muscles in your stomach and gut (intestine). It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms), thereby relieving abdominal cramps and pain. Ranitidine is an H2 blocker (antacid). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps relieve acid-related indigestion and heartburn.
Quick tips
- You will be administered Zidium Injection to get relief from abdominal pain due to acidity.
- Drink 6 to 8 full glasses of water daily to help prevent constipation while you are taking this medicine. Do not use a stool softener (laxative) without first asking your doctor.
- Do not take indigestion remedies (antacids) within two hours of taking Zidium Injection.
- Incorporate the folowing lifestyle changes in order to prevent acidity:
- Make sure you eat regular meals and drink plenty of water.
- Avoid spicy and fatty fried food.
- Lose weight if you are obese.
- If you are a smoker, consider giving up.
- Don't drink too much alcohol.
- Do not go to bed immediately after taking a meal. Sit in a relaxed position for some time for better digestion.

Driving
UNSAFE
Zidium Injection may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney
CAUTION
Zidium Injection should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
