Hi Doctor, I underwent a foot bone debridement, due to diabetic foot infection. Doctor has asked us to administer INJ COLISTIN- 3 million units - Intravenous Twice a Day in 100 ML Normal Saline. It has to be given twice daily for 2 weeks. My Question is - For Inj Colistin I purchased Coly Monas 3MIL at the cost of RS 2579/- The price is very steep , so I wanted to know if I can purchase MYXITIN 3MIU INJECTION or NEOLISTIM 3 MIU INJECTION IS it ok to buy the substitute injections with the same salt ?
Dr. Waseem Mirza
Hello, greetings from 1mg.comSince in your prescription only salt name is mentioned, you can take any substitute with same salt and concentrationBut I would like to advise you something regarding substitution. As this drug is given in case of serious bacterial infection and diabetics are immunodeficient already, you can't take chance of replacing a reputed brand.Though you can go for https://www.1mg.com/drugs/pmx-3miu-injection-292357 by intas Or https://www.1mg.com/drugs/xylistin-forte-plus-3-miu-injection-161947 By cipla. Moreover you can get 20% discount from 1mg.com so it will become cost effective with risk of compromising with quality
