How to use Xinasone Cream

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

How Xinasone Cream works

Xinasone Cream is a steroid. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy.

Xinasone Cream may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Xinasone Cream is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.

Expert Advice

  • Xinasone Cream is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort of various skin conditions.
  • It should be applied to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
  • Don't use it more often or for longer than advised by your doctor.
  • Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
  • If you think the area of skin you are treating has become infected you should stop using Xinasone Cream and consult your doctor.
  • Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.
  • Side effects such as mood changes or stomach problems can happen when you start taking Xinasone Cream. Inform your doctor if this bothers you.
  • Do not stop taking Xinasone Cream suddenly without talking to your doctor first as it may cause worsening of symptoms.

Xinasone can be used to relieve itching and redness associated with eczema, poison ivy and ringworm. It is however not recommended for use in acne or scabies.
